Sushi Workshop - Thursday 28th November 2024 7-9pm
For this very special community cooking workshop, we invite Henry Chiu, a young sushi chef who works in Chisou restaurant in Mayfair, London. He has visited Rhyl before to work with our pupils and has volunteered to now run an evening workshop. You can see some photos from our last session with him here.
During this hands-on session, Henry will show you the skills needed to make two types of sushi roll and nigiri. Henry is a fantastic teacher and we can't wait to welcome him back.
Henry was drawn to the professional kitchen by his love of creativity. He explained: "It's like an art in its presentation and chemistry when you are mixing ingredients. I was always creative as a kid. I always enjoyed art and DT at school. But I couldn't imagine what I would do with it in future. I studied sports science at University but didn't enjoy it. During the lockdowns, I got part-time jobs at a Chinese restaurant and a sushi place then came to London to learn more..."
During this workshop, you will learn how to make the types of sushi below. You will be able to take your sushi home at the end of the session. Here at Rhyl Kitchen Classroom, we subsidise these community cookery sessions so tickets are just £10 which includes all ingredients etc.
- Hosomaki (a roll with seaweed outside and rice inside)
- Uramaki (a roll with rice outside and seaweed inside)
- Nigiri (topping on top of a rice bowl)
