Freelance Vacancy - Community Food Officer
Location: Rhyl Kitchen Classroom
Hours:
One day per week on Wednesdays from 11am-7pm (School Term-Time Only)
Pay:
£160 per day - plus a free pizza lunch and a share of any organic vegetables grown in the garden.
The Role
Do you enjoy cooking and gardening outdoors? Do you enjoy working with your community? Do you like working around young people in a friendly primary school?
We are looking for an energetic and organised individual who would like to join our team. You will liaise with the Project Manager of Rhyl Kitchen Classroom, based at Rhyl Community Primary School, and take responsibility for a diverse range of tasks to help grow our social enterprise.
These include:

Gardening - basic gardening tasks to maintain our urban allotment garden

Cooking - basic cooking including distributing meals to our local community and working on the wood-fired oven

Organising community events - for example, hires of the kitchen or cookery workshops

Marketing - posting on social media and designing flyers

Volunteer coordination - providing leadership to volunteers during gardening and cooking sessions
Working With Us (The "Small Print")

This is a freelance role: The successful candidate will be responsible for their own Tax and National Insurance.You have the right to provide a suitably qualified substitute to perform the services if you are unable to attend.

Independence: You will be expected to be able to work independently and to use your initiative to perform the role. Please bring your own laptop if possible.

DBS: successful candidates will be entered for an enhanced DBS check (a criminal record background check) as this work is in a primary school.

Comfortable handling meat -based ingredients: Some of our cooking includes meat and other pork products such as chorizo. You must be comfortable handling these ingredients.
